A Memorial Service to celebrate William’s life will be held at a later date.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother & uncle, Wally Richards of Naicam Sk.
William (wally) Alexander Richards was born to parents Alexander & Jane Murray on August 5, 1923 in Drynie Knockbain, Ross-shire, Scotland, the 4th of 9 children. When he was 3 the family immigrated to Canada.
The Richards family settled in the St. James district and began farming. Wally attended Hat Creek School for his education then went on to become a farmer. He purchased land in the Lake Charron area and owned the first quarter he bought all his life. When he retired in 1978 he renter his land however he continued to be involved, helping with seeding and harvesting whenever and wherever he was needed.
Wally loved the outdoors, for the most of his life he was an avid fisherman- many of us enjoyed Uncle's catch more than once! He was a consummate gardener as well. There was a large, weedless garden grown behind his house every year, up to & including this past year. An abundance of vegatables were grown & always shared wit the neighbors & friends.
Wally passed from this life on January 19, 2018 at the age of 94 years with his family by his side. He leaves to celebrate his life & mourn his passing 2 sisters, Isabel McNamara and Betty Rettger, 1 brother Eion Richards and 3 sisters-in-law, along with 24 nieces and nephews as well as numerous great & great-great nieces and nephews. We will miss this kind and unassuming man dearly!
A celebration of Uncle's life will be held in Naicam later this year.
