On April 3, 2024, with great sadness, we said farewell to William Schultz, Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad. He was born January 21, 1932, to Walter and Pauline Schultz, the youngest of 5 children.
William was raised and worked on the family farm where he learned the many aspects of farming. He attended school at Rosa Country School, Kuroki (boarding with Daviduks), and British Columbia (moving with his parents).
On January 31, 1955, he married Maryann Mottram. Together they raised two children Barry and Charlott. They lived on the family farm until moving to Kelvington in 1983. He continued farming until retiring in 2004.
William was a quiet constant presence for his family. He was always a source of information, whether it was farming, mechanical, building, meat cutting, or family/community history. A Jack of all trades.
When farming years were lean he worked 2 winters on the pipeline. Being away was hard for a mixed farmer so he worked at Madarash Implements as a mechanic. Eventually, he attended Kelsey Institute to upgrade his heavy-duty mechanics.
Obtaining his pilot's license alongside Barry was a proud accomplishment. He even convinced Maryann to take a flight with him.
William worked for 8 years for Saskatchewan Crop Insurance. He enjoyed this immensely as he was able to meet many farmers.
After retiring from crop insurance he took great pride in his garden and yard. As Maryann’s health failed he cared for her enabling her to stay at home.
William was also a great cook, always trying a new recipe he’d read about in the Grain News or on a cooking show. He was the start of the family meat cutting and sausage making. As a carpenter, he made each granddaughter a hope chest.
Remembering William’s life with joy and left to carry on the family traditions are: his son Barry (Sandra), daughter Charlott (Garth) Bagnall, Grandchildren Patrick (Kyra) Schultz (Mikayla & Will), Karla Bagnall (Porsche), Lacey (Kris) Ewen (Ava & Rhys), Jenna (Ryan) Townsend (Hudson & Reid), Rayme (Bryce) Frohaug (Cullen & Isla).
